I have several years of experience in elementary school! During my classroom time (before I became a full time curriculum writer) I taught mostly second and fourth grades. I was also a mentor teacher to new educators across my district, a grade level team leader, and a math facilitator for my school. I was the Teacher of the Year in my school as well as the County Elementary Math Teacher of the Year in a county with more than 400,000 students.
During my last few years I spent more and more time working with teachers at math trainings and having new teachers (and student teachers) observe me in every subject. I was a master teacher for student teachers and loved every experience working with teachers. It was during these experiences that I learned I enjoyed sharing my ideas and training other educators.
I have a Master of Science degree in Teaching and Curriculum and I’m starting my doctorate in curriculum next year!
I love elementary school students and I LOVE working with teachers on the ‘fun’ stuff in learning! I taught 2nd and 4th grades over several years and have either substituted or student taught in all the other K-6 grades. There isn’t an elementary year I don’t like!
My favorite subjects to teach are math and science. While there isn’t a subject I don’t like, most of my products revolve around those two areas. I like to create games to help students practice, labs to make it easy for teachers to provide hands-on science experiences, and math activities the help students understand what is going on behind the numbers. And since I do like all subjects, you’ll find a few HSS and literature lessons in my store as well.
I used to teach almost all my writing within science and social studies so I provide several literacy integrated products in those areas.
My teaching experience was in Southern California in a large school district that performed well and was a leading district in the area. I’ve since moved to East Tennessee and love living life in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and nature. The only thing I don’t like is the slow internet out here.
I have three kids – one high schooler and two middle schoolers. I am just now getting used to having no kids in elementary. I spent more than a decade with at least one elementary schooler and the change has made me feel my age. I just celebrated my 20th wedding anniversary! It was a bit anti-climatic due to Covid.
I semi-homestead out here in the country. I love my garden and cooking! During my spare time, I can be found reading or scrapbooking.
